Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Tromsø to Balsfjord, where you’ll be welcomed by our Sami host, Nils Ole Oskal, caretaker of several hundred reindeer.

Step into the Sami way of life as you feed the reindeer and hear captivating stories passed down through generations. The evening’s highlight is an unforgettable reindeer sledding experience, set in serene mountain landscapes under the starry Arctic sky.

Itinerary:

- Pick up at 16:45
- 1.5 hours to drive to the reindeer camp
- Feeding of wild reindeer around the reindeer camp
- Hop on a short reindeer sledding tour (10-15 minutes)
- Warm drinks inside a warm lavvu (traditional Sami tent)
- Traditional hot meal with bread
- Storytelling of Sami culture
- Sami clothing, living equipments, hunting stories, unique items showing
- 1.5 hours bus ride back to Tromsø city center
- Return time for evening tour: 23:00 (11pm) in the city center

Northern Lights are not a guarantee on this tour, but when the weather is good and there’s Northern Lights activity, Nils Ole’s farm is one of the best places to spot them.

Reindeer sledding tours rely on snow conditions. If the conditions are bad, we will not be doing sledding in order for the reindeer not to hurt themselves.
